Accountabilities
The Office of Black Catholic Ministry’s primary responsibility is to reach out to the Black people, primarily Catholic, of the Diocese of Camden. There are approximately 2300 Black Catholics in the Diocese of Camden.
The Office of Black Catholics collaborates with the Advisory Council of Black Catholic Ministry and its three (3) standing committees. The three standing committees are the Planning Committee, the Liturgy Committee and the Youth Committee. The Planning Committee shall design programs in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Office of Black Catholics.
The Liturgy Committee shall design liturgical and worship services in accordance with Liturgy documents and guidelines of the Diocese of Camden, developing Liturgical celebrations, retreats, revivals and workshops that reflect the spirituality of Black Catholics.
The Youth Committee is responsible for designing plans of outreach and welcome for Black adolescents 21 years and under. Creating programs that will help youth understand their cultural heritage, especially as it connects with one’s personal faith and the Church.
The Youth Committee shall enhance the ministry to Black families to enable children, youth and adults in discerning their call to participate in some form of ministry.
