The Diocese of Camden has purchased the former home of the president of Rowan University for use by Bishop Dennis Sullivan and the future bishops of the Diocese. The large house, which is located in Woodbury at 510 Cooper Street, had been on the market for two years and was bought by the Diocese for $500,000.
It is anticipated that Bishop Sullivan, who has been living in temporary quarters at the Spiritual Life Center in Blackwood since his installation as Bishop in February of 2013, will move to the Woodbury house in the Spring along with two priests who serve in the Diocese’s administration.
“The house in Woodbury provides needed work space, and room for meetings, that the quarters in Blackwood just didn’t have,” said Peter Feuerherd, the Diocese’s director of communications. Feuerherd added that “The house in Woodbury provides a home for Bishop Sullivan, and the future bishops, that is more centrally located in the Diocese.”
The house where the bishops had previously lived had been vacated prior to Bishop Sullivan’s being named as Bishop of Camden. It is being sold for $395,000 and the proceeds will be applied to the purchase price of the Woodbury house.
