Eucharistic Revival

Bishop Andrew Cozzens, chairman of the Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis, gives the mission and vision of the National Eucharistic Revival launched
on Corpus Christi Sunday 2022

“The Eucharist is ‘the source and summit of the Christian life.’ ‘The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.'”

– Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1324

The Bishops of the United States are calling for a three-year grassroots revival of devotion and belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. They believe that God wants to see a movement of Catholics across the United States, healed, converted, formed, and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist—and sent out in mission “for the life of the world.”

In the Diocese of Camden, over the course of the revival, lay leaders and parishioners will be able to participate in a variety of learning opportunities and spiritual enrichment events to help grow their understanding of the Eucharist where we will inherently come closer to Christ.

These three years will culminate in the first National Eucharistic Congress in the United States in almost fifty years. Almost a hundred thousand Catholics will join together in Indianapolis for a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage toward the “source and summit” of our Catholic faith.

All are welcome to spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesday, August 23 at 7 PM at Sacred Heart Church, Vineland!
The evening will include exposition and blessing with the Blessed Sacrament, music and time of prayer and reflection. The Holy Hour will be in English and Spanish

The Eucharistic Revival in our Diocese began with more than 1,000 faithful processing with Bishop Sullivan on the Atlantic City Boardwalk on June 18.

Listen to our Talking Catholic podcast with Father Robert Hughes, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, discussing what is planned in the Diocese of Camden and why it is an important opportunity for the Catholic faithful. Father Hughes gives a great primer on the Eucharist and its importance not just to us as individuals but how it fosters in us the desire to help our communities. He also tells us about the significance of the national Eucharistic Revival and activities planned for the Church of South Jersey.
