Maintenance Technician II    

Location:         Pennsauken, NJ

Duties

  • Work with the members of the maintenance staff to repair and maintain the rental units and facilities.
  • Clean and refurbish vacant units for new residents / transferring residents
  • Clean and maintain all common areas and office space
  • Maintain organized inventory systems
  • Document work completed on work order property management software program.
  • Document replacement of capital items and work provided to the facilities.
  • Work outdoors during inclement weather, shovel snow, ice, etc.
  • Work a rotation schedule among sites within the Northern Region consisting of Camden, Gloucester, as directed by superintendent
  • Work as a team to complete required tasks.
  • Travel to other Diocesan sites, meetings, etc.
  • Attend all training as required and participate in cross training of jobs as requested.
  • Behavior at the job and/or worksite that is in keeping with a faith-based organization
  • Maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, external colleagues and management

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Ability to use hand and power tools necessary for repairs and maintenance
  • Ability to document work completed using the mobile hand held work order system and computer
  • Knowledge of basic skills in carpentry and plumbing
  • Must be willing to work outdoors during inclement weather
  • Must be able to work as a team member to complete required tasks        
  • Must be willing to travel between the Diocesan Housing Services Corporation of the Diocese of Camden, Inc. properties located in the lower six counties in the state of New Jersey
  • Must be available for overtime hours when needed
  • Must be available for on-call as scheduled by superintendent
  • Ability to work with Senior Citizens, low income families and disabled population
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift and move up to 100 lbs
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing, auto insurance and personal vehicle
  • High School Graduate
  • Basic understanding of chemicals used in cleaning products and their potential dangers
  • Experience or training in the basics of home maintenance (carpentry, plumbing, electricity, HVAC, etc.)

Physical Demands

While performing duties on the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle and feel.  Staff must be able to reach with hands and arms.  Position requires frequent heavy lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable disabled individuals to perform the essential functions on the job.
